Malleus Maleficarum
The Malleus Maleficarum, commonly known as the witches hammer, It was written in 1486, and is a perfect example of what happens when people let fear, prejudice and misunderstanding control their actions. No one knows for sure how many were executed under the direction of “The Church” but the numbers suggested by researchers range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. This publication was distributed as a guide for a world wide witch hunt. As horrible as the Salem Mass witch trials were, this was a thousand times worse. The book instructed people on how to identify, prosecute, convict and sentence those suspected of being witches. The sentence was always DEATH. The “witches” were always women. The identifying factors were simple, any woman who dared to be free minded was branded, by free minded I mean any women who did not conform to the rules and directives set forth by the church regarding their behavior and their place in society. Of course their place was as a second class citizen. Subjugated to men, in service to them without question. RIGHT!!!! I’ll get right on that!!! NOT!!! Sorry couldn’t resist. I’m quite sure if I was alive, in a past life, at that time I was drowned or hung for sure. Docile and submissive in not in my nature. So please check out this site, study the publication.
